Filmmakers . Journalists.

Amber Silva is a 22-year-old journalism student completing a Master of Media in Journalism and Communication at Western University. Hoping to pursue a career in documentary filmmaking, Silva enjoys exploring and getting out of her comfort zone to capture a good story. Silva would like to say she was born to be wild, but hasn't done anything as risky as free climbing a cliff or free diving into the depths of the ocean. Some of the activities she has partaken in are scuba diving with sharks, rappelling in Costa Rica, zip lining over a cloud forest, whitewater rafting and jumping through a waterfall. She has plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro alongside her dad and brother on her 25th birthday.
"I used to be really afraid of doing risky things," says Silva. "I hit a point in my life where I was so bored with routine that I impulsively decided to travel to Costa Rica with my best friend in search of whatever adventure we could find."

Nicholas Sokic is a 23-year-old writer and journalist. He is currently finishing up his master's degree in Journalism and Communication at Western University with an internship at the Financial Post. He hopes to pursue a career in storytelling through video, digital and many other media. While not as experienced as the people featured in Living for the Risk, he has gone whitewater rafting, zip lining, swimming with sharks, cliff jumping, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding, and is an active skier and snowboarder. He considers most activities 'on the table,' though wouldn't do something like free solo climbing without loads of training and preparation. His bucket list activities include skydiving, bungee jumping and mountain climbing.
"I can't say I never experienced fear when I did any of these activities but that's part of the experience," says Sokic. "Having that sinking feeling in my stomach when I jumped into the Atlantic Ocean with a bunch of sharks only made it more rewarding once I was done."
